Understanding DNS
A deviated nasal septum (DNS) occurs when the thin wall of cartilage and bone that separates the two nasal passages is displaced to one side. While a mild deviation may not cause noticeable symptoms, a significant deviation can obstruct airflow, making it difficult to breathe through the nose. It may also contribute to recurrent sinus infections, snoring, nosebleeds, and disturbed sleep.

A deviated nasal septum that is present from birth cannot be prevented.
